Today, I read this article about Vogue magazine. It talks about the different techniques the magazine uses and ways they appeal to their audience. In the article a survey about magazine covers took place. This survey showed that Vogue's target audience is mainly appealed in buying the magazine by the qualities, such as lighting on the cover page. One survey participant said, “It is pretty obvious what you are doing here, I can tell which cover you want me to choose because it is clearly the most pleasing design.” The survey changed the cover page by showing variations of font, photo, layout, and color. Seeing how most participants chose the original image gives me a simple layout to follow. I like the close up image of the cover girl looking straight into the camera, simple font, layout spread out, and coordinating colors. All these together make the cover page look much more appealing.
